After graduating from Purdue University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, Barry Herring went to work for Sears Roebuck and Company in their Management Training program in Lexington, Kentucky. He was promoted to store management in 1978, and after his involvement in the management of the Sears Roebuck store in Sioux City, Iowa, was promoted to a position with Homart Development Corporation, Sears’ retail development subsidiary. Barry left Homart after being promoted to the office which handled the management of all Homart malls in the Eastern and Southern United States (thirteen regional malls totaling over 12 million square feet in ten states). Barry left Homart in 1984 to become President and 50% owner of a small Chicago-based retail development and management company. During Barry’s tenure, this company acquired or developed 12 shopping centers and regional malls in the Midwestern United States totaling over 2 million square feet, and also grew to be one of the top fifty strip center property management companies in the country. In 1995, Barry became a founding Managing Member of Pine Tree Commercial Realty, LLC. in Lake Bluff, Illinois. Barry has served as a Village Trustee for the Village of Third Lake, Illinois and was the state director of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for the state of Wisconsin. Barry is married and has six children.
